Luton Culture, Paines Plough and Tamasha present

In the run up to the arrival of Roundabout, Luton Central Library will be hosting its first ever Library Late in association with Luton Hat Factory, Paines Plough and Tamasha.

We’ll be welcoming BAFTA Breakthrough Brit Vinay Patel (Doctor Who, Murdered by My Father) and London Laureate Zia Ahmed (Channel 4/Paines Plough Playwright in Residence) as part of a panel with regular Luton collaborators. Topics on discussion will be the upcoming Roundabout season, the current cultural landscape in Luton and how Luton can be placed on a national stage.

Vinay Patel was most recently announced as a new writer for Doctor Who, his latest play An Adventure is currently running at Bush Theatre and he contributed to the award-winning collection of essays, The Good Immigrant. His BBC3 drama Murdered by My Father garnered the Royal Television Society Award for Best Single Drama and named him a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit. His play Sticks and Stones is playing in Luton as part of the Roundabout season.

Zia Ahmed’s poetry has seen him become a London Laureate, having been shortlisted to be the Young Poet Laureate for London 2015/16 and having the accolade of 2011 Roundhouse Slam Champion. He was commissioned by Paines Plough and Tamasha as part of Come to Where I’m From: London, and continues to work with Paines Plough with his debut play, I Wanna Be Yours.

Other panellists to be announced shortly.
