Luton Film Factory in association with Luton Irish Forum present

A self-proclaimed promoter decides to organise an R&B group to fill the musical void in his hometown of Dublin. The Commitments are a fake movie band that cover Wilson Pickett and Otis Redding and the sweet music they made.

It’s 27 years since Alan Parker’s classic comedy hit the silver screen, and the impact, the music, and the heart and soul can still be felt today.

The Commitments won four BAFTAs, an Oscar nomination and the soundtrack sold an estimated 16 million copies.

Age guidance: 15+

Running time: 120 minutes

Post-film discussion

Steven Martin, the Irish Film historian, will discuss the film and lead an audience discussion following the screening. This is included in the ticket price.
