Music In The Museum: Balladeste

Classical music performance will take place in the stunning Drawing Room, surrounded by the museum's unique art collection and with spectacular views overlooking Wardown Park.

Balladeste is a collaboration between violinist Preetha Narayanan and cellist Tara Franks, a genre-crossing duo drawing on influences from classical minimalism, modal improvisation, Indian classical to global folk.

Balladeste have developed a unique way of writing, weaving in and out of each other’s voices as performer-composers. Exploring the versatility and sound potential of just two string instruments, they  create a musical narrative that is both ancient yet contemporary, devotional whilst pastoral, writing original compositions that are vibrant, experimental, melodic and contemplative in quality - Songs without words with contemporary alt-folk twist.

Since the success of their second album ‘Beyond Breath’ and their latest release 'Conversations in Ritual', Balladeste have featured on BBC Radio 3 In TuneNight Tracks and Saturday morning show, Radio 4 Women’s Hour, ‘Book of the week’ and Soho Radio, alongside receiving a 4* Songlines.
