Libraries for Schools

“Thank you for coming in to visit us. The children really enjoyed the session, especially the story.  I think the book was perfect for their age and definitely a great choice.  The staff enjoyed the session too and it was a good model of how to read a story and engage the children, especially for new or inexperienced teachers.”  Icknield Primary School

Luton libraries welcome visits from schools.  We offer every primary school the opportunity to visit their local library.  A visit to us will include:

  • Information on how to join the library, we will encourage children to become library members and work with schools to achieve this.  (Every Child a Member)
  • A guide on how to use the library and the services we offer, including finding fiction and non-fiction books, our eBooks and other online resources and extra-curricular activities.
  • Time to explore and choose books to borrow.
  • Storytelling sessions linked to Time to Read.

We are also happy to attend assemblies which promote the library service and the joy of reading for pleasure. Please contact us to find out more.

During the summer term we aim to visit every primary school to promote the Summer Reading Challenge which runs in libraries throughout the school holidays.
