The Retro Show is coming to Luton!
In partnership with Luton Culture, The Retro Show presents a special event to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the two iconic computers – the ‘Sinclair ZX Spectrum’ and the ‘Commodore 64’. Back in the eighties everybody either owned or knew somebody with one of these great systems!
Initially designed with serious intentions, both computers soon became loaded with games, from Jet Set Willy, to Wizball, the list of popular titles is almost endless. These classic home micros helped shape the booming UK games industry we have today, launching the careers of many, and the inspiration of millions!
Set over floor floors at Luton’s historic Hat Factory, the event is within a couple of minutes walk from the mainline train station, and within very easy reach of local shops, restaurants, bars and hotels. The building is fully accessible with a lift to all floors, nearby parking and its own fully licensed bar and restaurant. The M1 motorway, and London Luton airport are only a few moments away by car.
A full day of entertainment is planned, including a wide range of retro computers and consoles to play on, arcade machines, stalls and traders, board games, competitions and tournaments, lots of special guest talks, and even some exclusive reveals of new games, and new hardware. All this alongside a very special celebration of the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 ,where we hope to finally settle that age old question – which one is the best? There can be only one!!
So who are ‘The Retro Show’? They are a dedicated team of industry professionals who have formally been involved in organising some of the UK most popular events including Revival, Retrovision, and Classic Gaming Expo UK, as well people who work within the games industry itself creating many well known hardware and software products. They will also be supported by a host of other highly respected enthusiasts including the Retro Computer Museum, Retro Games Ltd, a major games distributor, and various Retro Game retailers!
The Hat Factory Arts Centre has been hired for this event.
