Chief Executive: Marie Kirbyshaw

Marie joined Luton Culture in June 2015. Marie has over 20 years experience in cultural management and a visual art and curatorial background. She graduated from Newcastle University with an MA in Museum Studies and Fine Art degree, she also has a Diploma in Arts Marketing, Teaching certificate and is a Prince II qualified project manager.  After lecturing in art and design in Durham, Marie managed Washington Arts Centre before becoming Director of Milton Keynes Arts Centre - a three venue independent charity. Ten years ago Marie moved into an arts commissioning role with Milton Keynes Council where she worked as Cultural Services Manager leading on the strategic development and delivery of arts, heritage, library and cultural services.

At Luton Culture, Marie's role is to lead the charitable trust which provides Luton communities and visitors with inspiring, educational and enjoyable cultural experiences. 

 

Director of Culture and Engagement: Karen Perkins

Karen Perkins - Museums Director

Karen has worked for the museums in Luton for eight years, starting as the Curator of Stockwood Discovery Centre and then progressing to Collections Manager. She now undertakes the strategic lead for all cultural activity across Luton Culture.

Karen is trained as an archaeologist and has previously worked at the British Museum as the Collections Manager for the Prehistory and Europe Department. She has over 20 years’ museum experience in both front line and strategic roles. 

 

Director of Finance and Resources: Brian Angell

Brian joined Luton Culture in July 2012. He is an experienced public sector accountant having spent the last 30 years working in finance at Local Authorities, Central Government and Housing Association’s. Brian’s current role oversees financial management, Legal, HR, marketing and commercial activity, fundraising, facilities and procurement. He is also the company secretary.

At Luton Culture, Brian’s role is to support the Management team to deliver their objectives and to ensure the Trust manages its resources as effectively as possible and develops business opportunities to ensure long term financial sustainability.
